Rizzoli and Isles star, Angie Harmon, had an early career in modeling that took her all over the world during her childhood. Born and raised in Texas, whenever fellow models she would meet around the globe asked where she was from, rather than saying “America” or “The United States,” Harmon would simply reply “Texas.”

From modeling to acting and even directing, Angie Harmon has found herself all across the realm of entertainment. Treating each potential opportunity and project with great enthusiasm, she’s shown no signs of stopping just yet.

While you may be impressed with her career now, here are 5 things you may not have known about Angie Harmon:

1

She was discovered by David Hasselhoff

Angie Harmon got her start in acting when she ran into David Hasselhoff on a plane. Hasselhoff offered her a roleon his show Baywatch Nights, which she declined at first because she had only done modeling until then and never even took an acting class. Coincidentally enough, a friend she was also on the plane with happened to be auditioning for Baywatch Nights who convinced her to come along to her audition. Hasselhoff recognized her from the plane and made the same offer where she accepted and took on her first television role on Baywatch Nights as Ryan McBride.

2

She’s done voice acting work

In the late 90’s and early 2000’s, Angie Harmon was the voice behind Commissioner Barbara Gordan in both the Batman Beyond animated series and film Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. While she’s primarily stuck to live-action since then, she’s also voiced the character Lady Trigel in Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defenders series.

Jane Rizzoli wasn’t the first detective she played

Before she was chasing the bad guys all over Boston as Detective Jane Rizzoli, Harmon played Detective Lindsday Boxer in the short-lived series Women’s Murder Club. Here she played a homicide detective who worked together with a medical examiner and a newspaper reporter to catch various criminals. Sound familiar? While Women’s Murder Club only lasted 1 season, a few of their plots and ideas were eventually reused in the Rizzoli & Isles tv series.

4

Both her parents were professional models

Modeling runs in Harmon’s family as both her parents were prominent models in the 70’s. Her mother, Daphne Caravageli, worked primarily on the runway while her father, Larry Harmon, appeard in many Texas advertisements. They had Angie start modeling at a young age where she won Seventeen Magazine’s cover model contest at the age of 15 and began her career in modeling shortly after.

5

She really wants to play Marvel’s She-Hulk

Since as early as 2012 during an interview with Conan O’Brien, Angie Harmon has expressed intense enthusiasm to play She-Hulk for Marvel Studios. You can find her often sharing her love for the character on both her Twitter and Instagram as well. She’s made note of She-Hulk’s legal background, having to defend superheroes whenever they get in trouble with the law. With Harmon having 3 years already acting as an ADA attorney on Law & Order, she sees herself perfect for the part.  While Marvel has recently casted a She-Hulk for a television series, perhaps there’s still a future for a Harmon She-Hulk with her continued voice acting work in an animated feature.
