Kim Kardashian’s daughter with her ex-husband Kanye West, North West, is now ten years old. For The Lion King’s 30th anniversary concert at the Hollywood Bowl, North played young Simba.
Jason Weaver, the original singing voice of young Simba, also appreciated the talent of the little girl online. But it seems not everyone was as appreciative of young North West being chosen.
A lot of people on social media seem to be critical of this. A lot of people are accusing the casting choice of being based on ‘nepotism’ since North is the daughter of two incredibly famous and influential people. A lot of people seemed to think the role being given to North meant it was being taken away from an actual talented child.
One person wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Everyone is saying not to be too harsh on her & that’s fair but let’s be very real: there are plenty of talented & hard-working 10-year-olds who deserved this far more than North West, who even looks like she didn’t attend rehearsals. Nepotism is a mockery to hard-working people.”
