If you thought horror movies couldn’t get any more intense, think again! Picture this: a movie so visceral that it literally makes someone vomit during a screening. Yup, that’s the kind of reaction Chris Nash’s latest spine-chilling masterpiece, *In a Violent Nature,* is provoking.
Let’s face it, the horror scene can sometimes feel a tad repetitive with its predictable jump scares and tired storylines. However, Chris Nash has decided to stir the pot, creating a buzz with a fresh new twist.
This isn’t your typical horror flick where you sympathize with the hunted innocent teens. Oh no, *In a Violent Nature* plants you firmly in the shoes of the killer. And according to Nash, this film takes ‘gory and gruesome’ to a whole new level.
So intense, in fact, that reports from one of the early screenings include a viewer losing their lunch! That’s right, an audience member reportedly vomited during the disturbingly graphic scenes. While an audio clip from the Chicago Critics Film Festival doesn’t clearly capture the sound of vomiting, it does pick up shocked gasps, nervous laughter, and even applause once the gut-wrenching scene concluded.
When Nash caught wind of the vomiting incident, he told Dexerto, “I have no idea whether or not this is true,” adding, “I can’t take any pride in it, although I’m also not concerned.” It seems like making viewers hurl isn’t exactly what he aims for, but hey, it definitely means you’re pushing boundaries.
Interestingly, Nash highlighted that tales of extreme reactions like fainting or vomiting are not uncommon around big horror releases. He shared an anecdote about the premiere of *Raw* by Julia Ducournau in Toronto, where someone fainted — though it turned out they were just sick with a fever.
