If what you have been missing from your life is more Leroy Jethro Gibbs, then you are in luck as CBS has given a straight-to-series order to a new series, NCIS: Origins which will focus on a young Gibbs set at the start of his career when he first forges his place on a team out of Camp Pendleton lead by NCIS legend Mike Franks, a character played by Muse Watson on the main series. The new series will be narrated and produced by Mark Harmon who is being joined in producing by his son Sean Harmon who played young Gibbs during certain flashbacks.
Sean will not be playing the lead here, preferring to stay behind-the-scenes saying: “The character of Gibbs has been an important part of my life for 20 years, both in watching my father craft the role and previously having the honor to play young Gibbs myself. I always felt there was a tale worth telling about his earlier years, so I am thrilled to be stepping into a producing role alongside Gina (Lucita Monreal), David (J. North) and my dad as we tell this story and reveal a new side of this beloved character.”
The main NCIS series continues to be the top-rated non-sports broadcasted series on television and has launched multiple successful spinoffs in the past including the new NCIS: Sydney.
