“We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer,” the actress’s children wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). Kirstie’s cancer was reportedly discovered shortly before. But after a courageous fight, she died surrounded by her closest family.
The star rose to fame in the iconic TV series, “Cheers,” where she started as Rebecca Howe. Her children and grandchildren will remember her fierce acting and loving character forever.
Her role in “Cheers” earned her a Gold Globe nomination and an Emmy award. Kirstie was also the lead character in the sitcom “Veronica’s Closet,” which ran from 1997 to 2000.
