NBC has greenlit the highly anticipated multicamera comedy “Happy’s Place,” featuring the iconic Reba McEntire in the lead role. The series, which reunites McEntire with the creative team behind her beloved sitcom, follows Bobbie as she navigates inheriting her father’s restaurant, only to discover an unexpected business partner in her long-lost half-sister. With McEntire at the helm and a stellar supporting cast, including Melissa Peterman, the show promises laughs and heartwarming moments.
In addition to “Happy’s Place,” NBC has renewed the hit comedy “Lopez vs. Lopez” for a third season. Starring George Lopez and his real-life daughter Mayan Lopez, the series has garnered significant viewership, particularly among English-dominant Hispanic households, making it a valuable asset for the network.
Unfortunately, NBC has also made the tough decision to cancel the rookie comedy “Extended Family,” starring Jon Cryer, despite its promising premise and talented cast.
With these developments, NBC is gearing up for the 2024-25 broadcast season, adding “Happy’s Place” to a lineup that includes the Zachary Quinto-led medical drama “Brilliant Minds,” the Wendi McClendon-Covey mockumentary “St. Denis Medical,” and the procedural “The Hunting Party.” These series will fill the gaps left by cancellations and concluded shows, offering viewers a diverse range of programming choices.
As NBC continues to shape its programming slate, decisions on the fate of drama pilots “Suits L.A.” and “Grosse Point Garden Society” will be made following next week’s presentations. With a mix of established stars and fresh concepts, NBC aims to captivate audiences both domestically and internationally in the ever-evolving landscape of television entertainment.
